In my opinion the best traffic is free traffic, not just any old traffic, laser targeted free traffic and lead generation is through Keyword Research.
First Generate a list of keywords and make sure they are relevant to your niche, relevancy is directly related to how targeted and pre qualified your traffic is before it reaches your capture or sales pages.
High traffic keywords are naturally going to bring more traffic, right? That’s if you can beat the competition and get a first page ranking on google. Long tail keywords that are less searched and less competitive are often much easier to rank for and get to the first page of google quickly. Provided you use a system and a system that cost’s next to nothing with no recurring fees and a few simple inexpensive tools that will get you there is brilliantly simple.
High traffic keywords are often heavily dominated by sites that are 10 or more years old and can hundreds of pages of quality content and thousands of backlinks making it next to impossible to outrank them in any short term.
You should always choose keywords with reasonable commercial value as well, if no one is spending money on them then chances are they have been tested already and they didn’t work.

Choosing the right keywords to target can mean the difference between getting +/- 1,000 new visitors to your site each month compared to =/- 100 new visitors.
I hope the video below helps give you a better understanding of how to choose keywords that will be easier to rank for.
You will notice that one particular keyword we were targeting had a massive amount of competition and for that reason I have made some tweaks to our title to help get better rankings for something a little less competitive.
I forgot to mention in the video that I had made tweaks to our site a while back and didn’t realise that our site title had gone missing with the changes, to be honest I have made a few tweaks lately and I’m not sure which one caused the problem. Here I was posting content telling people how important titles and keyword selection were and I didn’t have any myself. “That’s Embarrassing!”

So in a nutshell. If you choose to go after extremely competitive keywords it’s going to be next to impossible to get a good ranking quickly.
When it comes to title tags it sometimes pays to choose the road less traveled and try to sidestep the highly contested, competitive keywords when possible.

Writing your online content is different to writing for offline purposes such as magazines, newspapers, books because you need to consider your website SEO “Search Engine Optimization” when writing for online purposes but you have to keep your audience interested, invoke and emotional response and get them to take action while you do it.
But that’s copywriting skills and this post is really about SEO. Just remember that you need to put the whole lot together to come up with an effective marketing campaign because getting traffic through good SEO is not going to help much unless you convert that traffic into an income. On the other end of the spectrum… great copy won’t help you unless you are driving truckloads of targeted traffic.
Lets focus on the basic SEO for now and worry about copywriting later because I believe copywriting is a skill that the majority of us learn through a quality education coupled with trial and error.

These are all keywords and some will convert better than others, take the word covert, do you think there will be a lot of people searching for this in the engines? You might refer to these as key phrases but they are all keywords and an example of what you might use in your Title Tags. “Note all are under 65 characters we will get to that in a minute”
Title tags
These are also invisible to your visitors but not to the engines and are regarded as the single most valuable on site optimization tool. So take the time to understand this and utilize it to maximum potential.
a) Aim for 65 characters, Google allows 65 characters this is including spaces so try to keep to your post or article titles close to or under 65 characters and keep your title tags concise and targeted towards your most important keywords.
b) Insert your primary keywords first in the beginning of the title tag..
c) If you are out to brand your company then put your company name in the title tag first and do this consistently. If you want to get the post seen for its title and content then keep your primary keywords towards the front of your title tag. I suggest writing several different versions of a topic and using very similar title tags in each pick one primary title and link each piece of content back to your primary information source.
Here’s a quick example: Imagine you want to target the keyword phrase “Free Website Traffic” You write a few articles on free website traffic “the more the better” and then pick the one you think is best. You then make variations of each title tag on each piece of content in these secondary articles and put a link pointing back to your best article in each of your secondary articles. “Make sense?” This gives your primary title tag and article a more commanding stance and will help it’s SEO even further.
Meta description tag
This is also a hidden attribute – but a meta description tag is often listed in the search results, you know… the explanation that comes with your search results. So you want to make your description interesting and intriguing enough those searchers will want to click your link to learn more… Be sure to include the keywords you are targeting in your meta description tags, these will display in bold text when they appear in the search engine and they can help increase the click through rate.

Headings
Use one H1 heading per page to point emphasis toward your most significant keywords on that page because the engines like the H1 tag and a fair amount of weight is set on this.
Keep the H1 tag in sync with title tags to ensure your most important keyword terms are targeted as successfully as possible.
Use H2 to H5 Headings to optimise for secondary keyword terms and phrases – and use these as sub-headings. Keep your H2 to H5 tags varied and different to each other and your primary keyword phrase this helps target other phrases.
Internal linking
Also known as deep-links –Be sure to deep-link across related topics in your site, this builds the strength of webpages within the search engines. Internal links should be added to offer more on a topic where there is further information available on another webpage within your site. There is no need to overdo internal links within your copy, just link to a small selection of relevant pages. Just remember to use the correct anchor text when you do this, make sure your links contain the keywords that fit with page you are sending people to. For example: Targeted SEO Website Traffic
Keyword usage on-page/body content
Copy should be written specifically for your visitors. Try to invoke emotion and always use some kind of call-to-action. Use your primary keywords in your first paragraph and attempt to use a variation of your primary keyword or phrase a few times in each article or post.
Use bold and italics to emphasise important keywords. The engines don’t place a lot of weight on this but it can help to point out certain keywords within a page – be careful not to overdo it.
Use keyword descriptive ALT tags, ideally optimised towards the same set of specific on-page keywords. An ALT tag is simply a HTML tag that renders alternative information when non-text elements, things like images, can’t be optimized with text.
Keyword density
Anywhere between 2% and 5% is good, if you have less than 2% you might have a problem and if you go much over 5% you could also have a problem and might be viewed by Google as a page which has been “keyword stuffed”.
The new age SEO is more about how keywords are presented on the page.
Images
If you upload images to a webpage try and name these using your keywords. Remember that too many images will slow search results and therefore may be detrimental to your SERP “Search Engine Results Page” Make use of the alt tag, optimising relevant images for targeted keywords and helping the engines find your content, having your images tagged may also help you be seen in googles image search results..
A PR-3 Website Can Get A Higher Search Engine Ranking Than A PR-7 Website.
The point I am trying to convey here is! Don’t feel discouraged if your PR isn’t above 3 because it is possible to push the higher PR sites down the list.

Whenever you write an Article or a Post, you undoubtedly have the same old question going through your mind “SEO Optimization” How do I write this so it’s as search engine friendly as possible and still keep it interesting enough to keep my readers happy?
The most important factor here is your readers of course, there is no point having great SEO “Search Engine Optimization” if your copy ends up looking shady and no one want’s to read your content.
- Search engines may well place substantial weight the age of a domain, site authority, link anchor text and usage data. “But does Google really place any substantial weight on the age of your URL?
- The page title is typically weighted more as a rule than any other text on the page.
- The meta keywords tags, comments tags, and other somewhat hidden inputs may possibly be given less weight than page copy.
- Page copy that is linked, bolded, or in a heading tag is likely given greater weight than normal text.
- Weights are comparative. If your whole page is in an H1 tag then it not only looks looks shady & shonkey, it doesn’t place more weight on any of the text since all the page copy is in the tag.
- You most likely want to avoid doing things like bolding H1 text as it is doubtful it will make a page seem any more relevant.
- Lots of queries are a bit random in nature. When people tweak up page copy for an indiscriminately higher keyword density they usually end up removing some of the modifier terms that were helping the page appear relevant for many “longtail” 3 and 4 word search queries.
- Keyword Optimization Grammatical related algorithms, may look at supporting vocabulary when determining the relevancy of a page. If you removed the keyword phrase you were targeting from your page copy would it still be easy for a search engine to mathematically mock-up what that phrase was and what your page is about using the supporting text?
- When people focus too much on keyword density they tend to write content that people are not interested in reading or linking to.

Google Search Engines
I know I’m of stating the obvious for the wide majority of us, but I feel this needs to be covered for the one or two people out there that didn’t know. There is a very high probability that Google will spider your site without doing this, but if you want to fast track the process and tell Google that your site exists and to send a bot over to index it then simply go to http://www.google.com/addurl and add your URL “www.yourwebsiteaddress.com” to make sure Google can find your site.
Website Optimisation -> Hierarchy Management:
In order for the spiders to index your site easily you need to make sure you have a good file structure in place. The easiest way I can think to explain this is: Think of your (C:) Drive Folder, you don’t just put all your files directly into your (C:) Drive, there is a multitude of files in there but they but they are laid out in a hierarchy. You have folders like your Documents folder, Pictures Folder, Music Folder… and this is exactly the way you should structure your website. Make subfolders that make it easier for you to find what you want and when Google comes along to index your site it will easily find your html text files, so you can put all of them together at one level then put all your auxiliary files in a hierarchical order at the same level. Make sure it’s organized with logical breakdowns.
(We use Dreamweaver for all our Website Development, it’s not cheap, but there is a FREE service FileZilla and it works fine.)
So your website structure will look something like this:
All your html text files would be in the resource folder. Structuring your site in a similar fashion makes it easy for you to find files and easier for Google to index your site.
Website Optimization -> Music, Images, Videos
HTML is easy for google to find and index but Music, Images & Video isn’t that easy, so you need to help the Googlebot out a bit.
Give all your multimedia files a good description using alt=<”description of picture”>
Name your picture file appropriately when you save it.
Give a good description in the description field when you can.
Here’s an example: I named the picture Web Site Optimization. This helps Google find the picture and also gives a higher relativity to my post. I would do the same with the alt tags & description alt=<”Website Optimization”> And with the Web Site Optimisation picture above I have done the same; only I have spelled it the way we would here in Australia. This will help google find this post in both .com & .com.au
Web Site Optimisation -> Title Tags
Use the Google keyword tool to seek out keywords that will get you results, that’s not to say that the higher the number of searches the better. Competition can be fierce for some of these high volume keywords. Just use keywords that best suit your post or article and do everything you can to get on the First Page of Google. Try to keep your Title tags as short and concise as possible they need to do two jobs “get your visitors attention” & attract a targeted audience through the selection of your Title keywords. The title of this article is a good example. I decided to use this title after going through the Google Keyword Tool and finding that the keyword Web Site Optimisation was getting 14,800 searches per month worldwide in www.Google.com.au and 27,000 in www.Google.com
There was definitely higher volume keywords but the contest for these keywords is fierce. That’s not to say that you should totally forget these higher volume keywords just mix it up a bit.
Obviously this Title didn’t attract you because you were searching for Home Business Opportunity, MLM or Network Marketing, you are evidently looking for better ways increase site traffic. Our site is only a couple of months old and right now we are generating between 400 & 500 No Cost, Free hits per day using Only Free Marketing Strategies and the trend continues upwards. That’s more than 10,000 hits per month on a very conservative figure and it won’t be long before we are getting 20,000 hits per month, more than 10% of these are new visitors.

Of course it goes deeper than just this, but if you place these 2 goals at the top of your list before you get to work every day then your on your way. Sounds easy right… Now just take a few minutes and think, what methods are you going to use to accomplish this.
There has been a lot and still is a lot of emphasis being focused on the 3 foot rule where people are saying that making a list of friends and family, placing flyers on windscreens in parking lots, trying to recruit anyone that comes within 2ft of you spending hrs on the phone cold calling people and holding meetings at home and in hotels all over the country is simply not the way to do business these days.

Don’t try using adwords or PPC without first getting educated in all the pitfalls and traps that will drain your PPC budget quicker than your lawn grows in the tropical Queensland summer. My Advice: You Absolutely Positively Have To Understand Adwords Before You Dive In And Throw A Single Penny At It.
These day’s I know exactly how PPC works and I can confidently run a PPC campaign knowing exactly how to avoid the penalty rates brought about by a lack of adwords understanding & a poorly run campaign.
Buying Lists
As you continue to dig around the internet looking for ways to (Retail & Recruit) It’s likely that you will come across some people that recommend buying lists. When you come across these people there are certain steps that you will need to take (BIG FAST ONES) Been there done that… TURN & RUN OK. I’ll be honest with you here, I had been warned about these lists but I still had a go at them against my better judgment and the warnings I had received were absolutely true.
Other Forms Of Advertising
Then you may come across sites that offer you free advertising where you build credits by viewing other people’s offers and Business Opportunities. . You might get some leads this way the quality probable wont be very high and you will quickly come to realize that you will spend a lot of valuable time on these sites either going through and having the page open for the required amount of time then moving as quickly as possible to the next to build your credits up so that you could continue to advertise your opportunity.
If something did catch your eye it wouldn’t be long before something else turned up that took your attention. Do you see how this goes… Way too much stuff going through your head and the clock continues ticking away as your (Recruit & Retail) time vanishes for another day.
Do you think all the other people using this method are any different? Of course you could pay to advertise on these sites and then you save time because you don’t have to go and open other ads to build your credits, but …. there are so many better ways.
Then I Realized Something…
I was looking for systems and trying all sorts of tactics to get people to see what I had to offer and I was missing one of the most important pieces of the puzzle while I ran in circles. It’s a really big piece of the puzzle I call it the Fundamental Centerpiece and it belongs right in the middle of everything. An extremely important and often overlooked aspect of SEO “Search Engine Optimization” and link building is your ping list. It’s one of the easiest ways to get your content indexed by the search engines and this can happen in minutes using ping. It also assists in getting ping backs from other blogs and scraper sites which will also build your backlinks and boost your Google PR.
However! DID YOU KNOW?, your WordPress blog pings unnecessarily every time you edit a post? Think how many times you upload your post then go back and update or edit it. Your blog will ping unnecessarily whenever you make changes or edit a post. Save your blog from getting tagged as ping spammer by installing one of these plugins. Log into your admin (www.yourdomain.com/wp-admin)then go to plugins then search MaxBlogPress Ping Optimizer or “Smart Update Pinger” and install either one of these plugins. Alternatively you can go to: MaxBlogPress Ping Optimizer and use the zip option.
REVISED: I used to have a list of 70 + ping url’s here but upon testing I discovered that most were dead links or one service would double up on another as it was a multiple submission ping url. When I managed to get it broken down into a list of ping functions that were useful and actually did something constructive this is what I ended up with.
That being said: I recommend you go to www.wordpress.org for the most recent ping list, because things change so fast online the list below may not be current by yhe time you read this blog.
